Japan quake: PM calls for unity in face of disaster
A 8.9 magnitude earthquake has hit the Pacific coast of Japan.
A tsunami has caused major damage in the north of the country, sweeping away buildings and cars.
The city of Sendai has been the most badly affected. The Japanese prime minister, Naoto Kan, called for unity in the face of the natural disaster.
