London is marking the one-year countdown to the opening of the Olympic Games on Wednesday and the city has a lot to live up to.
The last Olympics, which were held in Beijing, were praised as truly exceptional by Olympic bosses, with spectacular ceremonies, magnificent firework displays and fierce sporting competition.
When London won its bid to host the games, special attention was given to the legacy it would leave for the city.
