The world's rising population not a problem for Australia
The world's population is estimated to have reached seven billion, according to the United Nations.
The number is growing by 200,000 people a day, and experts predict that by the end of this century, it could reach 10 billion.
However, as the rising population figures trigger concern in some quarters, they are welcomed in some other parts of the world.
Duncan Kennedy has been looking into Australia's need for people.
