Coalition extends lifespan of Germany's nuclear reactors

Politicians and industrialists in Berlin have agreed to extend the life of Germany's nuclear power stations - some of them until 2030 and beyond.

Under previous government plans, they would have been phased out entirely over the next ten years.

Hundreds of protesters outside the Chancellery demanded an end to nuclear power.
