Police and protesters clash amid French strikes

Police have clashed with protesters amid strikes which are taking place across France against government plans to reform the state pension system.

In the southern city of Lyon, several hundred youths jeered at police who banged their batons against their shields in a bid to disperse them.

In Naterre, to the east of Paris, vehicles were set on fire.
