Italian students cause disruption across country

Student protesters caused major disruption across Italy as they took to the streets in anger over proposed education reforms.

The bill would see spending cuts and time limits on research, which students say would be a breach of their right to education.

Rome was brought to a standstill as riot vans blocked roads to prevent protesters reaching the Chamber of Deputies, while there were also protests in Turin, Palermo, Milan, Pisa and Venice.
