Enda Kenny elected Ireland's prime minister

Enda Kenny has been elected the 12th Taoiseach of Ireland with 117 votes for and 27 against.

It is the first time in Irish history that a prime minister has faced no rival candidate.

Mr Kenny received a rapturous round of applause from members of the packed Dail and scores of invited guests.
