First Pope to take questions from the public on TV

Pope Benedict has become the first head of the Roman Catholic Church to take questions from the public in a television programme.

The pre-recorded event was organised by the Italian TV network RAI.

The questions were put by Christians from around the world and included queries about religion and recent world events.

Duncan Kennedy reports from Rome.
