Queen in Ireland: Sligo supports state visit
The Queen's visit to Ireland marks a symbolic healing of the rifts in the relationship between Britain and Ireland.
In 1979, the IRA assassinated her cousin, Lord Mountbatten, a popular regular visitor to County Sligo.
Although the Queen will not be going there during the trip, the county's support for the state visit is overwhelming.
