Hague prosecutor: 'Mladic must answer to serious crimes'

The prosecutor for the International Criminal Tribunal at the Hague said today the arrest of Ratko Mladic "means that no-one can count on impunity for war crimes".

Mr Brammertz said Mladic is charged for his role in the "violent criminal campaign" in Bosnia and Herzegovina between 1992 and 1995.

Serge Brammertz said that all but one of the 161 people indicted by the Tribunal is still at large.

General Mladic is expected to make his first court appearance at the Hague on Friday 3 June.
