Pope Benedict XVI begins first Croatia visit

Pope Benedict XVI has begun his first visit to the Balkans with a two-day trip to largely-Catholic Croatia.

Arriving in Zagreb, he gave his strong backing to Croatia's bid to join the EU, but said he understood many Croats' fears of a loss of national identity.
