Turkey ruling party wins election with reduced majority

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has won a third term in power after his conservative Justice and Development party took about 50 per cent of the vote in Sunday's general election.

However a strong showing by Kurdish nationalist candidates means Mr Erdogan may be forced to devote more effort to resolving the long running conflict between the state and the Kurdish minority.
