Riot police circle Greek parliament in case of protests

In Greece, thousands of people are expected to take to the streets of Athens on Wednesday evening as the future of the country's economy hangs in the balance.

The Greek prime minister is facing a vote of confidence and the European Union and the International Monetary fund say they will not release a new loan to Greece to keep the country solvent until more austerity measures are agreed.

The BBC's Gavin Hewitt reports from Athens.
