Greece: Papandreou urges MPs to back austerity plan

Greek unions have begun a two-day strike in protest over a new five-year austerity plan.

The country's PM George Papandreou has told MPs the proposed cuts and sell-offs are the only way to get Greece back on its feet.

The bill is due to go to a vote on Wednesday and - if passed - would come into force the following day.
