Belgians react to extended smoking ban

Belgium widens its smoking ban to include cafes, casinos and nightclubs from 1 July.

The new ban, which prohibits smoking in all public places, was approved earlier this year as an extension of a 2009 law which banned smoking in bars and restaurants that serve food, with exemptions granted to those only serving snacks such as crisps and peanuts.

Some Belgians rejected the idea while others thought it was inevitable.
