Belgian residents charged for waste
Residents in the Flanders region of Belgium are being charged for the amount of rubbish they throw away.
The scheme, which has been in place for about two years, charges approximately 20 pence per kilo of household waste.
Jan Verheyen of the Flemish Public Waste Agency defended the scheme saying that it is simply trying to encourage people to recycle more.
