Amanda Knox arrives for appeal hearing in Perugia

Lawyers representing Amanda Knox, the student convicted of killing her British roommate in Italy, are making their closing arguments at her appeal hearing in Perugia.

The 24-year-old American and her Italian ex-boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, are trying to overturn their convictions for killing Meredith Kercher in 2007.

The BBC's Simon McCoy and Carrie Garcie described the background to the case as she arrived in court.
