Ukraine's former PM jailed over gas deal

One of the figureheads of Ukraine's Orange revolution, former Prime Minister Yulia Timoshenko, is beginning a seven year jail term convicted of abuse of office.

The verdict and sentence have been condemned by the United States and Europe.

Mrs Tymoshenko, now head of the country's opposition, said the government was waging a vendetta against her.

David Stern reports from the capital Kiev.
