French labour law 'needs reform', says Sarkozy

French President Nicolas Sarkozy has said he wants to reform labour laws to make the country more competitive.

Businesses have cautiously welcomed the move, saying they need more flexibility to hire and fire staff, but with elections looming, the government is also keen to tackle rising unemployment.
