Europe's deadly cold spell to continue for days

A cold snap that has killed dozens of people in central, eastern and southern Europe in the past few days is spreading to other parts of the continent and is likely to last for days.

As temperatures dropped to about -30C, deaths were reported in Ukraine, Poland, Romania, Serbia and elsewhere.

The BBC's correspondent in central Europe, Nick Thorpe, reports.
