Flagship store of the Soviet era closes in Kiev

The iconic Central Department Store in Kiev, once considered the best supplier of goods in the Soviet Ukraine, is closing for refurbishment.

But, despite the new owner's assurances, many employees fear they will be made redundant and the store will be made unrecognisable.
