French shooting: 'Army were target' says Sarkozy

The French President, Nicolas Sarkozy, has taken part in a ceremony to pay tribute to three paratroopers who were shot dead near Toulouse last week.

The man suspected of killing the soldiers, as well as shooting dead three children and a teacher at a Jewish school, is surrounded by armed police at a house in Toulouse.

All three soldiers were of North African descent and were shot dead on 11 and 15 March.

President Sarkozy said the men were killed because they were French soldiers.
