Police chief says Merah wanted to die fighting in Toulouse

The head of the commando unit that assaulted Mohamed Merah's flat in Toulouse says the gunman wanted to kill as many as he could before dying.

According to RAID's chief Amaury de Hauteclocque, during the 32-hour siege, Merah also said that "mujahideen never surrender".

In this interview to French television, the policeman claims his men only open fire when they had to defend their colleagues' lives.
