MEPs to vote on plans to give air passenger data to US

The European Parliament is to vote on a controversial bill to transfer airline passenger details to the US Department of Homeland Security.

Supporters argue the bill is needed to fight terrorism, while opponents fear the information could be used for far wider purposes - such as controlling immigration.
