French hostage 'killed' in Somalia raid

A French hostage is believed to have been killed during a failed operation in Somalia, the French defence ministry has said.

A French soldier was killed and another is missing following the mission, French Defence Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian told reporters.

Commandos backed by helicopters reportedly swooped on the southern town of Bulo Marer during the night, targeting al-Shabab militants.
