New rules hit Italy's horse racing tracks

Horse-racing tracks around Italy are facing the threat of closure, and many of the animals who race at them could be destroyed.

Trotting - which echoes Roman chariot riding - has been worst hit, with four out of five venues near Rome shutting, and the final one facing closure.

But fast racing is also failing to bring in the punters, with many blaming the government's new betting regulations.
