Malta calls in army to control controversial hunting season

The Maltese government has had to draft in its armed forces to help police the country's controversial spring hunting season.

At this time of year thousands of migrating birds use Malta as a stopover point on their route from Africa to breeding grounds in Europe.

Limited hunting is allowed but conservationists monitoring the migration have reported widespread illegalities.

Jez Toogood reports.
