Mass beatification ceremony in Spain

The Roman Catholic Church in Spain has beatified more than 500 people, most of them priests and nuns killed by the Republican side during the Spanish Civil War.

The ceremony went ahead despite objections from left-wing groups, who said it amounted to a glorification of the Franco dictatorship.
