Pro-EU Kiev protesters remain defiant

Riot police in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, have forcefully dispersed hundreds of protesters at Independence Square, beating some with truncheons, according to witnesses.

The violence came in the early hours of Saturday, amid fresh demonstrations against President Viktor Yanukovych's refusal to sign an EU association agreement.
