Police fire teargas at Istanbul protesters

Riot police in Istanbul have fired tear gas and water cannon to disperse hundreds of protesters calling for the government to step down.

The protests were fuelled by allegations of widespread corruption by people close to Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and by anger at government urbanisation plans.
