Calais migrants: Extra police deployed

French police have deployed extra officers in Calais to cope with the increase in the number of migrants trying to enter the UK.

Earlier this week scores of illegal migrants tried to run up the main ramp of a ferry bound for the UK, but were foiled when the crew raised the ramp and turned a fire hose on them.

Many have been protesting through Calais demanding their "human rights and freedom" be better protected - amid allegations of heavy handed tactics by police.

Lucy Williamson reports.
