Russian women 'won't trade lipstick for beetroot'
In the midst of Russia's current currency crisis, a government senator has been advising the country's women to use beetroot instead of imported lipstick.
The senator Igor Chernyshev, has also been quoted as saying "our women" look nicer in Russian underwear than in French.
Yael Levine, a writer and former journalist who lives in Moscow, said that she did not think Russian women would be trading their lipstick for beetroot "any time soon".
