Is left-wing Syriza on verge of power in Greece?

Thousands of supporters of the radical left-wing party Syriza have been taking to the streets of the Greek capital Athens.

The people of Greece will vote in a general election this weekend and the outcome could have a profound effect on the stability of the eurozone.

Syriza, led by Alexis Tsipras, which has a clear lead in the opinion polls, is promising to renegotiate the terms of the international bailout imposed on Greece after the financial crisis.

The BBC's Europe Editor Gavin Hewitt reports.
