Auschwitz survivors place candles at ceremony
Auschwitz survivors have been attending a ceremony to mark the 70th anniversary since the liberation of the Nazi death camp.
More than one million people, mostly Jews, were murdered between 1940 and 1945 at Auschwitz making it the site of the largest mass execution of human beings ever recorded.
For the survivors, there is the knowledge that this may be the last major commemoration they will attend as a group.
As night fell, dignitaries and survivors lay candles at a memorial.
