Germanwings descent 'lasted eight minutes'

An Airbus A320 airliner has crashed in the French Alps between Barcelonnette and Digne.

Germanwings spokesman Thomas Winklemann said the descent of flight 4U 9525 from 38,000 feet lasted for eight minutes.

The plane had been en route from Barcelona to Duesseldorf with 144 passengers and six crew.
