Mediterranean migrants: Rescuers continue search for survivors

A major rescue operation is still under way to find survivors after a boat carrying as many as 700 migrants capsized in the Mediterranean Sea.

So far, only a few dozen people have been rescued.

If most of those who thought to be on the boat have drowned, the UN says it would be the largest single loss of life during a migrant crossing to Europe.

The boat capsized in Libyan waters about 130 miles (210km) south of the Italian island of Lampedusa, from where Richard Bilton reports.
