EU to hold emergency summit on migrants crisis

Almost 2,000 people have died in the Mediterranean this year. An emergency European summit on Thursday will discuss how best to save more migrants.

The BBC understands that draft proposals for the summit include a push for a military mandate to destroy boats used by people traffickers.
