VE Day 70th anniversary commemorations around the world

VE Day was remembered around the world, marking the day that World War Two ended in Europe.

In Washington DC a series of WW2 aircraft, including spitfires, performed a flypast over the Washington Monument.

French president Francois Hollande laid a wreath in memory of the lives lost, in Paris.

German politicians also paid their respects in the Bundestag, the German parliament.
