Istanbul police clash with Gay Pride demonstrators
Police in Istanbul have clashed with Gay Pride demonstrators. Rubber bullets and tear gas was fired at activists and 12 people were arrested.
Gay Pride has held annual parades in the city for the past 12 years, which have been largely peaceful. The parade this year was cancelled, with the security services claiming security concerns were an issue. However, activists said the police were simply attempting to limit their freedom to demonstrate.
