Merkel: 'We must preserve Kohl's legacy'

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has paid homage to former chancellor Helmut Kohl at an event in Strasbourg.

It was up to the current generation to preserve Mr Kohl's legacy, she said.

Addressing Mr Kohl's coffin, she added: "I bow before you and your memory in gratitude and humility."

Mr Kohl - who oversaw German reunification - died last month.
