Call for athletes to fight Jersey Sports Council grant cut
There is a call for athletes in Jersey to fight a decision to cut funding for sport.
The States decided to cut the Jersey Sport Council's grant by 80% as part of wider spending cuts.
The Jersey Sports Council, which helps raise the standard of sport in the island, will have its grant reduced from £176,000 a year to £37,000.
The current Education, Sport and Culture Minister, Deputy Patrick Ryan, was not a States member when the decision was made.
He said he would continue to support sports groups as much as possible.
BBC Radio Jersey's Claire Peters reports.
