Jersey has 'personal link' with the British Monarchy
Jersey's relationship with the Crown goes back hundreds of years and historian Geraint Jennings says the visit of Queen Victoria built up a fervour for royalty.
Queen Victoria first visited the island on 2 September 1846 where the island was decorated and a poem was written to mark it by Jean Sullivan.
Mr Jennings said Queen Elizabeth II had visited the island five times during her reign including once as a princess.
