Amazon's river levels lowest on record

The Peruvian government is considering whether to declare parts of the Amazon an emergency zone after water levels dropped to their lowest in 40 years.

Towns and villages in the north of the country are already running low on food and supplies after boats became stranded in shallow waters.

Jenny Wivell reports.
