Protests in Peruvian town over planned copper project

Hundreds of protesters clashed with police in the Peruvian town of Cocachacra, over plans for a new copper project by mining company, Southern Copper.

Residents fear that it will cause pollution and contaminate water supplies.

Some protesters were arrested after local police used tear gas to disperse the crowds.
