Otto Perez Molina declared new Guatemalan leader

A former army general has won Guatemala's presidential election.

The electoral tribunal declared Otto Perez Molina the winner - claiming about 55% of the vote with almost all of the votes counted.

He has promised tough action against violent crime and the increasing presence of Mexican drug gangs in Guatemala.
