At least 18 people killed in Haiti carnival accident

At least 18 people have been killed after a power line fell on to a carnival float in the Haitian capital, Port au Prince.

The Associated Press news agency reported witnesses as saying that someone on the float had used a stick to move the power line to let the float pass.

Some people were electrocuted, while others died in the panic which ensued.

Officials said another 60 people had been injured.
