Venezuela election: Violence on polling day

Protesters blocked roads and clashed with security forces in Venezuela as voting started to elect a new legislative body.

The opposition believes the new constituent assembly is a power grab by President Nicolás Maduro and is boycotting the vote.

However, the government says it is the only way to bring peace back to the country after months of violent protests.
