France's pledge to help Iraqi Christians

The French government has said it will defend the rights of Christian minorities living in Muslim countries around the world.

The pledge came from Immigration Minister Eric Besson after he met 36 Iraqi Christians who survived an attack by Islamic extremists against a church in Baghdad.

They are now receiving treatment in Paris.

The BBC's David Campanale reports.
