New government is approved by Iraq's MPs

Iraq's MPs have approved a new government, ending nine months of deadlock after inconclusive elections.

In a special session, they voted for the 29 ministerial candidates nominated by Prime Minister Nouri Maliki, who was reappointed for a second term.

The BBC's Gabriel Gatehouse in Baghdad described what happened as the government was voted in.
