New PM marks 'fresh start for Jordan'

King Abdullah of Jordan has sacked his government and appointed a new prime minister, Marouf Bakhit, ordering him to carry out political reforms.

The move follows demonstrations against poverty, unemployment and what protesters say is a lack of political freedom in the country.

Ayman Safadi, the former Deputy Prime Minister of the Jordanian government, told the BBC's Lyse Doucet it marked a fresh start for Jordan.
